How Child Support Works in Texas

Texas Family Code §154.125 sets child support guidelines as a percentage of net resources:

  • 1 child: 20%
  • 2 children: 25%
  • 3 children: 30%
  • 4 children: 35%
  • 5+ children: 40%

Net resources cap at $9,200/month for guideline calculations. Deviations are possible based on the child's special needs or the obligor's access and possession time.
