Workers' Compensation in Texas

Unlike other states, Texas private employers are not required to carry workers' compensation insurance. "Non-subscriber" employers can be sued directly for negligence, and they lose many common law defenses.

If Your Employer Has Coverage

You must report the injury within 30 days and file a claim with the Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) within 1 year. Benefits include income replacement, medical care, and impairment income benefits.
