Can I get a DWI expunged from my record in Texas?

I got a DWI conviction in 2019. I completed my probation in 2021. I've heard Texas allows expunctions — am I eligible to have this removed from my record?

Unfortunately, a DWI conviction cannot be expunged in Texas. Expunction under Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55 is only available for arrests that did not result in conviction (acquittals, dismissals, certain deferred adjudications). Since you were convicted, expunction is off the table. However, if you completed deferred adjudication probation rather than a straight conviction, you may qualify for an Order of Nondisclosure, which seals your record from most public view. Review your judgment carefully — if it says "deferred adjudication," consult a criminal attorney about nondisclosure.
